The events of the previous evening were still consuming the thoughts of the prince the next day as they entered The WAVE FOREST. It turned out that the actual reason for the trip to alpha sierra was so they could borrow a secret map to the forests location. Even with the map the forest had taken most of the day to locate and now the sun was starting to set.
As they entered the forest, the prince took a minute to soak up the endless complexity of the strange aquamarine trees that jutted diagonally from the ground. Apropos of nothing, the usually silent knight began explaining the origins of the wave forest to the prince. It turned out that the wave forest was created by some sort of being called a Saint which apparently has the ability to manipulate pure wave forms into physical objects and sounds. The knight seemed to recall that that this forest was created by a being called August, and he went on to explain that there were also several other saints who all worked in different wave spectrums, augusts being green.
The more they walked, the more eerie the forest became. The prince kept seeing things just outside his eye-line and now seemed to remember hearing faint howls in the distance back when they first breached the tree line. The prince brought up his concerns to the knight who grumbled that if the prince hadn’t slept in till noon and then gotten them lost, that they wouldnt be traveling at night. Regardless of the hammers grumblings, they sat down for a snack break.
Just as the prince was about to take his first bite of the granule bar that he had stashed in his sack, he spotted a pair of sinister eyes watching him from behind a dark bush. The prince pointed the stealthy onlooker out to the knight who quickly lowered his goggles and turned his gaze towards the concealed figure. In an instant the knight had grabbed his pack and was urging the prince to get off his ass and follow him. As soon as they started running the forest filled with howls and the prince could see shadowy creatures moving all around them.
The prince was sprinting so hard that he didnt even notice the trees disappear as they stumbled into a small clearing. Fear gripped the young prince as a pack of Wave Wolves emerged from the brush on the opposite side of the glade. He had heard tell of animals created out of pure wave, but hed always believed the stories to be more myth than fact. The princes heart was pumping so hard that he could hardly hear a thing. Well, that was until the wolves all started to howl in unison. The sound was so loud and devastating that he thought his eardrums would burst. The knight swung his hammer at one of the wolves, but the hammer passed through it like it was liquid, only oddly wavering the wolfs ghostly visage. The knight bellowed at the prince to use his sword, but when he held it in his hand the blazing blue blade would not appear. The prince looked up at the knight with unfathomable fear in his eyes and simultaneously they started running back the other direction.
As they bolted through the forest the prince prayed that they wouldn’t trip over any of the smooth pale branches that littered the forest floor. Just as the thought entered his mind he felt his boot land on a branch which was shockingly slippery and the prince stumbled. Luckily at the last second he rolled and was back on his feet and moving with surprisingly little loss of momentum. The prince hopped over a particularly large log to the find the hammer stopped in his tracks staring at a massive wall of leaves, but before he could even ask why hed stopped the wolves had surrounded them again. The prince stood still for a moment being at an utter loss for ideas when (for the second time in as many days) a large gloved hand grabbed him by the back of his cape and flung him directly into the wall of leaves.
